The flooding that struck Rasuwa and the valleys below has taken lives, homes and livelihoods in communities that many GHT trekkers know very well, and our hearts go out to everyone who has lost someone or is coping with the devastation. We hope and pray that the weather is kind for a swift recovery.

The People and the Mountains We All Care About
Nepal is one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries and mountains always contain risks that in part, have created the splendor. That is the reality the GHT works within, and why our goal is to make the GHT safer and more sustainable. Our mission is to spread the positive impact of tourism so that mountain communities benefit from it, and the current NextGen GHT work exists to make the trail safer for everyone who walks it.
What we Ask
We would ask one thing of the wider trekking community: Do not avoid the whole country. Nepal’s disasters are localised, but cancellations are not, and a valley-scale event too often becomes a nationwide loss of income when people are least able to bear it. Come and walk. Share your tracks, notes and conditions with us. That is how the trail gets safer and how the benefits reach further. We of course recommend following official guidance related the the affected areas, but encourage you to continue to explore Nepal on the GHT this season and beyond.
